About Clarity Ventures

Who you work with, who this is for, and answers to the questions people ask before the first call.

Who you'll work with

Clarity Ventures is a small company. The two people you talk to on the calls are the two people who build your tool.

Maclean VandeVoort

Maclean VandeVoort

Founder and CEO

Maclean founded Clarity Ventures and grew up in Whitefish, Montana. What he likes most about the work is the people. Every business runs a little differently, and he enjoys sitting down with an owner, hearing how their week goes, and working out what would help.

He is a full-time student at the University of Montana and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Outside of school and work, he is an avid lifter and rarely misses a day in the gym.

Simon Douglas

Simon Douglas

Co-founder

Simon is a co-founder of Clarity Ventures. He grew up in Billings and lives in Missoula. Most of his work happens before anything gets built: sitting down with owners, finding out where their day actually goes, and pinning down the one problem worth solving first. Usually it's not the one on the original list.

Outside of work he runs, skis, climbs, and lifts. He also DJs weddings, which turns out to be the same job: read the room, and don't miss.

Questions

Getting started

Do I need to know anything about AI?

No. We build it, then sit down with you and your team and show you how to run it.

What is an integration?

Connected tools built into the systems you already run, so clients, projects, payments and tasks stop living in five places. We map where the week goes, build it, train your team, and fix anything that breaks for 30 days.

Do you build websites?

Yes, as a Launch Kit, when the front door is the problem. We scope the pages and features on the discovery call, so a photographer and a plumber don't get the same site. Most clients come for an integration; some need the site first.

What if my business isn't on the home page?

Tell us about it. If we can build for it, we will. If we can't, we'll say so.

Price and timing

What does it cost?

A working session is $495. Integrations start at $3,000, and you get one fixed price on the second call before you pay anything. Nonprofits get 20% off.

How do I pay?

Half up front to get on the schedule. Half when it's running on your real data. Check, Venmo or Zelle.

How long does an integration take?

Most integrations are running within 30 days of kickoff. We set the date at kickoff. If we miss it, the second half is waived. The date moves if we're waiting on something from you or on a third-party approval, like carrier registration for business texting. Tools that send texts need carrier registration first. It can take a few days to a few weeks, so we start it at kickoff.

Where do you work?

Anywhere. The calls and the kickoff happen on video, and the build is done remotely. When we're close by, we can meet in person.

After launch

What if I want changes later?

We fix anything that breaks for 30 days after hand-off, and one round of changes is included. New features after that are a separate project.

What happens after the 30 days of fixes?

You can run it on your own, or add an optional maintenance plan. Plans cover monitoring, fixes and updates when a connected app or AI model changes. The price depends on the build and is quoted with it. Plans are month to month and you can cancel any time. Without a plan, keep in mind that software changes. Connected apps update and AI models get retired, so a tool can stop working over time. When that happens, we can fix it as a small job.

Are there monthly costs after the build?

Sometimes. If a tool uses AI, hosting, an automation platform or texting, those services charge a small monthly fee, usually a few dollars to a few dozen. They bill you directly, in your name. We estimate the monthly number in your proposal, before you pay anything.

Your tools and data

Where do the tools live?

In your accounts. You create them, your card is on file, and you invite us in. If we ever part ways, everything keeps running and stays yours.

Who owns the build?

You own your build and your data. We may reuse general tools and know-how across clients.

What about patient or sensitive data?

We don't build custom tools on patient health records. For clinics and practices, we set up compliant tools you already use. Anything that touches controlled government data stays out of standard AI tools.

Book a call

Start with the 15-minute call. We ask about your week, then go through what you told us. If there's no task worth building for, we let you know.
